Dental Marketing to Seniors

Let’s face it, marketing to the elderly is not a main focus of many dental practices. Most dentists market themselves to the younger population, with pictures of smiling young models gracing their front page. You could get ahead of the competition by reaching out to seniors if you’re in an area with a large senior demographic. Doing so might just bring in a lot of new patients. Here’s how we suggest you get started:

  1. Do your research. Be sure that you have a big enough population of seniors to get results of any campaign you start. Look into retirement homes and senior living communities in your area as a starting point. Accurately targeting your demographics will bring you more success in the future.
  2. Update your photos. If you’re strategy is to mail a promotional post card or email to seniors, cover it with photos that are relatable to an older adult. Seniors might not connect with images if young models with perfect teeth. You want seniors to know that they are welcome in your dental office, so show them with realistic images of older models.
  3. Offer something special. Given that many seniors are reluctant to visit a dentist as the years go by, giving them special offers might attract more into your office. Offers that might be especially appealing could be highlighting your restorative procedures or giving discounts for more frequent cleaning.
  4. Be flexible. Often times we find that seniors are the demographic that needs dental care the most while they often struggle financing trips to the dentist. If your dental practice has flexible payment plans, advertise that to seniors in your area. They might be more willing to come into your office
